Extended Time Allowed to Resume a Suspended Test

This fall, MAP did not allow a test event to be resumed if it had been more than two weeks since it was started. We heard from you that some students need more time to complete a test. We have changed MAP to allow a test to be resumed up to four weeks after it was started.

In general, we recommend that no more than two weeks pass between the start and completion of a test in order to limit the amount of instructional time the student experiences while completing a single test. However, for students who need it, you now have the option to resume their test up to four weeks after starting it.

Resources for Proctors:

Help your proctors prepare for successful spring testing seasons by sending them to the Proctor Help Center for step-by-step training and resources.

Trained proctors are better prepared to manage a successful testing session for students. Partners with correctly configured technology have a more stable testing experience. To help you prepare for your fall testing season, access NWEA’s on-demand training under MAP Essentials.

Chrome Browser Version 36 - Issue for Data Administrators:

Data Administrators should not attempt to use Chrome 36 for MARC. This browser version has an issue uploading files that affects Data Administrators’ ability to upload profiles. The issue is resolved in Chrome version 37.

Lockdown Browsers:

There are no required changes to Lockdown Browsers planned for the 2014-2015 academic year. For the best testing experiences, please use the current Lockdown Browsers:

For PCs: Version 5.0.165.0 released in September, 2013

For Macs: Version 3.0.0.2, released in August, 2013

MAP Testing Supported on iOS8 and Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite

We’ve verified that MAP tests work on iPads using iOS8 and have added iOS8 to our list of supported operating systems for students taking MAP assessments. Please note that MPG tests are not supported on iPads at this time.

We have also added Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite to our list of supported operating systems for testing, and for MARC (MAP Administration and Reporting Center).

System and Bandwidth Requirements can be found here.

Testing URL Change:

Starting June 2014, you can no longer use pdx-map01.mapnwea.org as a MAP testing URL, please use test.mapnwea.org to test on iPads and Chromebooks.

New Resource for Teachers:

We have partnered with Khan Academy to provide you with an easy way to find math resources based on a student's goal RIT score. You can find these new resources here.

Web-based MAP Recommendations

Whitelist Change on November 14: On November 14, 2014, MAP warmup materials moved to http://warmup.nwea.org. Please add http://warmup.nwea.org to your whitelist. You may remove http://www.nwea.org/warmup from your whitelist.

Whitelist Reminder: If your district/school is experiencing intermittent slowness, white screens, or the inability to click on various buttons when testing, please ensure that you have whitelisted *.mapnwea.org and http://warmup.nwea.org on equipment that sits between the testing machine and NWEA servers. Examples of equipment include, but are not limited to firewalls (hardware and software), content filters, and proxy servers/caching. If you are using Chromebooks, you will need to also whitelist test.mapnwea.org and warmup.nwea.org.

Once *.mapnwea.org and http://warmup.nwea.org are whitelisted, please allow the changes to propagate throughout your equipment. If you are uncertain about whether *.mapnwea.org and http://warmup.nwea.org are whitelisted, please contact your district/school technical support team to check these settings.

Note: If your district is unable to add wildcards to your equipment, please contact NWEA Technical Support at 877.469.3287

Password Reset: If you have trouble logging into your MAP Admin website, please follow these steps:

1. Try clicking on the Forgot User Name/Password link on the main login page to receive a temporary password from the system.

2. If you do not receive an automated email with your temporary password within a few minutes (based on the speed of your email server), please:

1. Check your spam filter to see if the email is there….OR ….

2. Contact your district’s System Administrator.

When you speak to your System Administrator, please ensure that your current email address is set in the system. If it is not in the system, your System Administrator will set up your email address in MAP and provide you with a temporary password. Please note, your System Administrator is the only person who can reset your password.
